whynote keeps your notes on your iPhone. We collect nothing.

What whynote stores

Your notes and a few settings, such as whether App Lock is on. They are saved only on this iPhone, inside the app, and are encrypted by iOS Data Protection while your iPhone is locked.

What whynote collects

Nothing. whynote has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. We never receive your notes.

Face ID, Touch ID and passcode

Locked notes and App Lock use the iPhone's own Face ID, Touch ID or passcode check. iOS only tells whynote whether the check passed; whynote never sees your face, fingerprint or passcode.

Sharing and PDF export

A note leaves the app only when you share it or export it as a PDF, and only to the place you choose.

Purchases

Premium is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment; we don't see your payment details.

Older versions

Versions before 1.0 (2018) used Google Analytics, Sentry crash reports and ads. Version 1.0 removes all of them. When you update, your notes move into the new app on your iPhone; nothing is uploaded.

Deleting your data

Delete a note, then remove it from Recently Deleted. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Children

whynote is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone.
